Energy Curtailment Specialists Announces Strategic Business Development Initiative
in New England Energy Market
Boston, MA, June 20, 2007

Paul G. Afonso, former Chairman of the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Energy,
tapped to lead New England market efforts

Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc (ECS), the largest demand response service provider in the United States, announced today that it has added to its advisory team of former state energy regulators to provide counsel on strategic business development initiatives in the New England energy market.  The group’s expert guidance will help ECS expand its demand response programs in the New England region.  ECS currently has under contract more than 700 MW of demand response capacity, sufficient to power more than 700,000 New England homes. 

ECS has tapped Paul G. Afonso, the former Chairman of the Massachusetts Department of Telecommunications and Energy (now the Public Utilities Commission), to join the already formed advisory group and lead ECS’ efforts in the New England region.  Mr. Afonso is currently the Practice Leader of Brown Rudnick’s Government Law & Strategies Group in Boston.

Afonso will be joining William M. Flynn, former Chairman of the New York State Public Service Commission (NYS PSC).  Mr. Flynn, now a partner in the New York firm of Harris Beach, PLLC, and leading their Energy Practice group, has been ECS’ lead advisor since February 2007.  Flynn’s focus has been primarily on the New York market with additional focus on the national level and the Mid-Atlantic region.
