Energy Curtailment Specialists Hires Mike Jaeger, Former NYISO Employee
Buffalo, NY and Albany, NY, Sept. 13
Energy Curtailment Specialists, Inc. (ECS), the largest privately held demand response provider in the country, headquartered in Buffalo, New York, announced the addition of Mike Jaeger, a former New York Independent Systems Operator (NYISO) employee, to their professional staff as director of market operations.
In New York, ECS administers “Operation Save New York”, a demand response program which pays commercial and industrial customers significant dollars to agree in advance to reduce their electricity use a couple times per year, to help balance the electric grid when demands are high.
“Mike has vast experience in the operations aspect of the New York electric grid, and we look forward to his expertise in our growing New York programs, as well as international markets,” said Glen Smith, president, chief executive officer and co-founder of ECS.
Jaeger, originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, received his technical training while serving in the U.S. Navy as a nuclear-qualified electrician’s mate. He later worked with the New York Power Pool and helped facilitate its transition to the NYISO as a mainframe computer operator during deregulation. Jaeger worked in the Customer Service Department where he managed large accounts and assisted in the changeover from legacy market systems to Standard Market Design systems. After leaving the NYISO in May 2006, he formed his own consulting company and has been actively consulting in the NYISO-administered Virtual Bidding Market.
Jaeger will be working out of ECS’ Albany office where he joins other former NYISO employees.
